WholeBeing: Wellness from East and West

Wholebeing. A culmination of growth from every aspect of our being. This course draws wisdom from both the Western expertise in Positive Psychology & Wellbeing, as well as leaning on the holistic, traditional beauty of Yoga & Ayurvedic traditions. Combining lectures, videos, individual and group exercises, readings, and the value of sharing the learnings at the end of the course, this packed, 6-module course led by Shal Motwani is the perfect way to begin the season on a wholesome note!

Course outline:

Day 1

~ Module 1: Assess & Align: Using your Character Strengths for Success

Knowing the qualities that come most naturally to you help you improve your relationships, manage problems, and enhance your overall health & well-being.

~ Module 2: Strengthen: Positive Psychology & Wellbeing

Positive Psychology is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful lives, to cultivate what is best within themselves, and to enhance their experiences of love, work, and play.

~ Module 3: Restore: Yoga: Listening to your Body

The value of a yoga practice will be understood, bringing in the concept of ‘flow’.

Day 2

~ Module 4: Heal: Ayurvedic Nutrition & Lifestyle: Applications to strengthen body & mind

Learn to apply the basics ofAyurvedic Nutrition to strengthen the mind and body

~ Module 5: Grow: Gratitude & Resilience

Feelings of gratitude are associated with less frequent negative emotions, and more frequent positive emotions. We can’t always control what happens to us. But we can control how we respond. Resilience is the ability to bounce back from adversity, work through challenges, and overcome obstacles; instead of letting these affect you and stop you from moving on.

~ Module 6: Sustain: Conclusions & takeaways: what will I do differently?

“All I need is within me.” Participants will present and share their keylearnings and takeaways and how they can apply this to their current work/life.

About the instructor: Shal has a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a Masters in Medical Sciences, Health Promotion; both from the University of Hong Kong. She also attended UCLA, California for part of her degree. Born and based in Hong Kong, Shal discovered the beauty of Ayurveda in 2009 in Rishikesh, India and has been studying it ever since. She is certified in the Foundations of Ayurveda & Ayurvedic Nutrition by Kerala Ayurvedic Medicare. She is also the co-founder of Ruhani Home, a wellness consultancy. It is her passion and dream to increase wellness in individuals, in a natural way and in the true sense of the word - mind and body.
