Book Launch: Yoga for Couples

Join us for the book launch of It Takes Two to Yoga by Zubin Atre!

We will be in conversation with the author himself, as we learn what inspired this amazing book on Yoga as a practice for not one, but two.

About Zubin:

The founder of the Atré Yoga Studio in New Delhi, Zubin Atré has more than 9,000 hours of experience teaching yoga. He has designed sports yoga programmes for ace athletes, stress and energy management courses for multinationals and transformational programmes for couples and individuals.

Dipping into his knowledge of the human anatomy, yoga and psychology, Zubin has developed a unique style of teaching. This comprises a series of meticulously crafted asanas, all of which convey his commitment to detail, to an interactive learning experience and to making the wisdom of yoga relevant to real-life situations.

Zubin writes regularly for and has been featured in major publications, newspapers and magazines, besides appearing in television shows in India and abroad. He holds a degree in business and when not teaching yoga, likes to travel, learn languages, write and go exploring by motorbike (this, he refers to as a form of meditation).

Zubin divides his time between Asia and Europe, conducting workshops and retreats.

About It Takes Two to Yoga:

When two people meld, the impact and the experience of their practice deepens on account of touch.

It Takes Two to Yoga moves beyond individual yogic practice, and embraces the essence of yoga—a term that, in fact, means a ‘union’ or a ‘yoking together’. It considers asanas that two people can practise as one—whether they are colleagues, couples, parents or friends—to deepen the impact of postures.

After hand-holding readers through a series of preparatory poses, this book goes on to guide partners and couples through the minutiae of more than forty two-person postures—among them, ‘butterfly arch’, where two bodies curve like the wings of a moth; ‘London bridge’, where two pairs of hands knot to form an overpass; and ‘flying bow’, where one of two partners seems to levitate! Besides photographs, each posture comes with detailed practice instructions; the vision guiding the pose; and how best to build awareness.

What makes It Takes Two to Yoga particularly special is its emphasis on touch. By focusing on this form of non-verbal communication, the book uses yoga as a tool to establish a connection that goes beyond the purely physical; rather, couples and partners, by practising as one, come to embrace laughter, trust, compassion, forgiveness, and an acceptance of each other's limitations.
